The Far North Environment Centre

Te Pokapū Tiaki Taiao O Te Tai Tokerau Trust

A beautiful and diverse coastline, large tracts of natural forest cover and a subtropical climate combine to give
the Far North of New Zealand a unique environment enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
In meeting the challenge of protecting that environment, Far Northerners draw on a strong tradition of kaitiakitanga, or stewardship, which has long defined the Maori relationship with land and sea, and now inspires new generations of residents from all backgrounds.
If you would like to participate in efforts to protect and enhance the Far North environment, or simply wish to be more informed, check out this website and links - and start thinking ‘sustainability'!
