Far North Exposure Rules

Conditions of entry and competition rules:

  • Entry is free
  • Competition theme is "The power of a photo: Our Far North Environment"
  • Photographs should be submitted by email to photo@ecocentre.co.nz, or posted (photos cannot be returned) to: Far North Exposure 2009, Far North Environment Centre, PO Box 503, Kaitaia 0441
  • Photographs/images should be between 1Mb and 3Mb (1200x900 pixels to 2048x1536 pixels).
  • Photographs/ images are to be taken in the Far North (as defined by the boundaries of the Far north District Council) of New Zealand between 23rd February 2009 and 1st May 2009.
  • Photographs/image must be a true reproduction of what the viewer could see in a single frame and not blended, modified or enhanced in any way. Cropping is allowed.
  • This competition is open to anyone (apart from any person involved in the running of the competition, or their immediate family members).
  • This competition has four age categories (based on age as at 1st May 2009):

    Infant to 12 years old
    13 to 17 years old
    18 to 30 years old
    30 years and older
  • The prizes:

    Category prizes: A category winner from each of the four competition age category will win one Nikon Coolpix L16 Digital Camera (or similar), plus seven nights camping (for up to two adults and three children) at a Far North Department of Conservation campsite (Far North camps are Rarawa, Maitai, Taputaputa or Spirits bay)
    Over all winner: One overall winner selected from the category winners will also receive a $100 gift voucher redeemable from Trees Company (conditions apply).
  • You must provide the Far North Environment Centre with your name, date of birth, and telephone number if you wish to enter this competition. The Environment Centre will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition.
  • You agree to take part in any competition publicity if asked to do so.
  • By submitting your photograph/image to Far North Environment Centre you agree to your name and age being published in relation to your photograph/image online and in all media.
  • A maximum of four entries will be accepted per person.
  • Each entry must have a title and location and may include an optional caption
  • Deadline for receiving entries is 4pm on Friday 1st May 2009. Results will be announced on www.ecocentre.co.nz by 5th June 2009.
  • If you are under 16 years of age, you must obtain your parent or a guardian's permission before entering the competition.
  • The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • You must supply full details as required above, and comply with all rules to be eligible for a prize. No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.
  • By submitting your photograph/image to the Far North Environment Centre you agree to grant the Far North Environment Centre, free of charge, the right to publish and the right to licence others to publish the photograph/image online and in all media as required.
  • Your entry must be entirely your own original work, not defame anybody nor breach any copyright.
  • If your photograph/image features any recognisable person or people, written permission should be obtained for the image to be entered in the competition and to be published online and in all media as required. Written permission from each recognisable person (or their parents/guardians if under 16) should be submitted if required.
  • Far North Environment Centre reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage.
  • If a winning entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, the Far North Environment Centre reserves the right to offer the prize to the next best entry.
  • Far North Environment Centre reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these rules or to withhold a prize if in its opinion entries do not reach the required standard.
