Saturday 29th June will see the launch of the Kai-Tāia Kapu at Kaitāia Market, ready for Plastic Free July, and international challenge to reduce single use plastic from our lives. The kapu are a glass reusable travel cup for coffee etc, with a blue silicone lid and grey grip band with the green logo on. They come in a sturdy cardboard display box, so great for gifts as well as buying for yourself. They nicely match the logo on our Kai-Tāia Kete too, so you can have a matching set!
There will be a launch day only special offer of two for $30, normal retail price will be $20 each.
Through July participating cafes around town will have a supply of tickets, and when you use your Kai-Tāia Kapu to buy from them, they’ll give you one to put your name on and pop in a box at the EcoCentre and at the end of each week we’ll draw a winner. So the more often you use your kapu the more chances you get to win in the draw! Details of the participating cafes and the range of prizes will be announced nearer the end of June. We don’t just want you to buy a kapu, but use it too!
We only have 100 of the first run, so if you want to pre-order at full price to ensure you get one and can make the most of using it through July, contact us and we’ll put one aside with your name on it upon receiving payment either in cash at the EcoCentre or via online payment. They can be collected at the market on the 29th June or from the EcoCentre from Monday July 1st.
As part of Plastic Free July we’ll have a stall at the Kaitāia Market every week through July, with our Kai-Tāia Kete and Kapu, cloth produce bags, knitted and crocheted face/dish cloths, beeswax wraps, metal straws, baking soda, menstrual cups, and plastic free toilet paper amongst other things! Stop by and say hello and have a chat about how you can make more changes in your own lives to reduce the amount of single use plastic you get through. Every little change makes a difference!
